HARMONY DAY
Harmony day is the most important thing for human lives. If a citizen did not celebrate the harmony day, the person would not enjoy their whole life without happiness. Harmony Day events have been held by a wide range of community, sporting and cultural organisation. Harmony Day events are supported by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, which provides free promotional material. Events include sporting activities, food festivals, dance or music performances, or simply bringing people together to talk and share stories. The theme for 2012 is “Sport – play engage, inspire” in recognition of the positive role sport plays in uniting people from different backgrounds and cultures.
" EVERYONE BELONGS"
On Harmony day, orange colour cloths should be worn inside the office and other places.
Traditionally, the colour orange is associated with social communication and stimulating two-way conversations. A warm and inviting colour, it motivates people to think and have a meaningful talk!
It also relates to the freedom of thoughts, ideas and encouraging people to develop mutual respect. The colour orange is taken as a symbol of a change in attitude from racism and discrimination to understanding, peace and harmony.
With all the attributes that colour orange signifies, people are encouraged to wear the colour orange to show their support for cultural diversity and inclusiveness on Harmony Day since it was first celebrated in Australia in 1999.
